Dr Antony Lighten
BSc, PhD, MB BChir, FRCOG, FRANZCOG, CCSST.
I have over 30 years of experience in treating patients with a broad range of complex fertility problems.
As I am doubly qualified as a medical doctor and a science PhD, I bring a unique blend of clinical expertise and a strong foundation in evidence-based science to every treatment.
I completed my medical degree at Cambridge University Medical School and earned a PhD in early embryo development from Imperial College London. My advanced training as a Sub-Specialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery took place at the renowned Oxford University Fertility Unit. During my research career, I was honoured with the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology’s award for 'Most Promising Scientist' for my work on early embryo development.
In 2006, I moved to Sydney for what was meant to be a two-year sabbatical but I quickly found a calling here. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to providing compassionate, patient-centered fertility care.
My own fertility journey
After years of helping others grow their families, I welcomed my own child, Kit, in 2019, after navigating my own fertility journey.
This deeply personal experience reshaped my perspective and inspired me to create a comprehensive fertility care ecosystem at Minerva Fertility and Bond Day Hospital.
